To the friends of Iranian people and all human rights activists

Iran Solidarity Melbourne is once again participating in a national day of protest to coincide with the 32nd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution. The Islamic Republic has for the last 32 years celebrated this anniversary claiming it to represent the triumph of justice and freedom over brutality and dictatorship. But the truth is that brutality, violations of human rights and injustice occur in Iran today on a level unprecedented in modern Iranian history. The latest example of this has been the wave of executions that have been carried out against Iranians convicted for everything ranging from moral and thought crimes to political opposition and raising awareness about the crimes of the Islamic regime.  At the time of writing this, 49 had been executed so far in 2011. At this rate the projected number of executions for this year would be above 600, more than twice that of last year’s figures.

It is clear that the Islamic Republic is using the opportunity provided by the decline of the post election protests to terrorise the population into submission and to destroy the will of the Iranians to resist. This is not new in the history of the Islamic Republic; from its outset the regime used executions as a way of securing its power in the face of opposition. But today there is a large Iranian community outside of Iran which can keep pressure on the Islamic Republic and to bring attention to the crimes of the Islamic Republic so that we can one day hold those responsible to account.

As a result Iran Solidarity Melbourne will be participating in a national day of protest outside the Iranian Embassy in Canberra to:

1.    Demand that the Islamic Republic free all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience currently incarcerated inside Iran.

2.    Demand that the Islamic Republic immediately seize carrying out executions regardless of the nature of the crimes of the convicted as the regime has shown that it is unable to conduct fair trials and is therefore unfit to implement justice.

3.    Condemn Iran’s use of torture and cruel and unusual punishments which include public lashings and amputations.

4.    Condemn Iran’s ongoing human rights abuses

This protest will camp overnight outside the embassy grounds and continue into the next day as to cause as much disruption to the work of the representatives of this heinous regime and to send the message loud and clear that we, the Iranian people of Australia and our supporters, will not forgive nor forget the crimes being committed by this bloodthirsty government. Iran Solidarity Melbourne will organise a bus to leave Melbourne for the first day of the protest, those wishing to stay overnight should make their own arrangements to return.

This protest is a public event and all are welcome to attend regardless of their backgrounds and political affiliations. Iran Solidarity Melbourne strictly adheres to the principles of freedom of expression and encourages people to express their opposition in any way they see fit. All banners, slogans and flags are welcome at this event. We urge all Iranians and non-Iranians to attend this event in defence of those whose voices are stifled and who cannot stand alongside us today.

End appeasement of Iran’s dictators

Now is the time for tough measures, not concessions, from the international community

In streets across Iran, both the democratic opposition and the dictatorship are on an irreversible path that can only lead to the latter’s downfall. As the opposition deepens and spreads, the political fissures at the top, including within the clergy, are expanding. Now the dictatorship has abolished fuel and food subsidies, inflaming the sentiment of rebellion, and so the dictators have stepped up executions of political prisoners. Already in January 2011 there have been 81 executions, including many political prisoners.

Two of these executed prisoners were murdered because they visited their relatives at Ahsraf City, Iraq, or had tried to flee there! They were killed for sympathizing with the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran.

The real advocates of peace and stability in the region and the wider world must stand on the side of the Iranian people, and put an end to the shameful concessions to the religious fascism ruling Iran.

We call on the United Nations Secretary General, the UN Security Council, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Australian government to condemn the barbaric violations of human rights in Iran and to adopt binding decisions to prevent the execution of political prisoners, and to provide genuine protection to the 3,450 Iranians, including 1,000 women, at Ashraf City, Iraq.

جالب است جا زدن در جای ملت ایران. اگر سخنان این “شعبان بی مغ” جمهوری اسلامی را مقایسه کنیم با عملکرد اعضای انقلاب فرهنگی چند دهه قبل، مشخص میشود عمق فاجعه ملت ایران: بعد از سه دهه بی عرضگی، درمانده در توهم اسلامی کردن و دست اندازی به طامات بافی برای تطهیر خود (= خیانت).

اخیرا مصاحبه جناب سروش را شنیدم. ایشان درباره دوره صدرات اسلامی کردن علوم انسانی شان مطالبی راجع به مردم و انقلاب گفتند. من منتظرم که این مصاحبه بصورت نوشتاری در سایتی منتشر شود تا اگر مطالبی از ایشان نقل شود میشود نق روشنفکری نزنند که نه خیر مطالب اشتباهی داده شد.

ولی جالب است این طیف روشنفکر ایرانی ک مصداق این ضرب المثل آلمانی است که:
Wasch mir den Pelz, aber mach mich nicht nass

اما با یک مقایسه ظاهری از عملکردها نقاط قابل توجهی میتوان یافت بین این “شعبان بی مغ” و آن روشنفکر دینی سه دهه پیش.

چه فاجعه ای اسفباری که این انقلاب که پشت سر نگذاشت.
